About this tour
Two of the twelve jyotirlingas stand in Madhya Pradesh. Mahakaleshwar at Ujjain is known for the bhasma aarti performed at dawn; Omkareshwar sits on an island in the Narmada shaped like the Om symbol.
Maheshwar, further down the Narmada, is a fort and ghat town rebuilt under Ahilyabai Holkar in the eighteenth century. Indore holds the Rajwada, the Holkar palace at the centre of the old city.
