About this tour
The Srinagar–Leh road crosses the Zoji La and runs through Kargil before dropping into the Indus valley. Leh sits at about 3,500 metres and is the usual base for acclimatisation.
North of Leh the Khardung La leads into the Nubra valley and its sand dunes; east, Pangong Tso runs on into Tibet, and Tso Moriri lies further south on the Rupshu plateau. The return to Manali crosses several passes above 5,000 metres.
